Learn to Quilt

Have you always wanted to learn to quilt, but didn’t know where to start? Or do you have a friend who would like to learn? We have started IN PERSON Learn to Quilt classes… details below.

The following course are scheduled for the spring of 2023:

Learn to Quilt 1 – The Beginners’ Quilting Course

dates: April 12, April 19, April 26, May 3, May , May 17, May 24, May 31 2023

Create your first quilt with The Etobicoke Quilters’ Guild and discover why our members love to quilt! Learn how to cut, sew, quilt and bind a small quilt in this fun 8 week course.

There is no need to purchase tools, students will use the guild’s cutting equipment. You may purchase your own fabrics or buy a fabric kit from the guild for $15 (fabrics not as shown). We recommend that you bring your own sewing machine to class but if this is not possible, there are a limited number of machines available to rent for in class use only. No previous sewing experience is necessary!

Adele Gataveckas, the instructor, is a very experienced and skilled quilter and teacher, and has instilled a love of quilting to many of us who came to the guild as beginners. Many of us have gone on to take all 4 levels in her Learn to Quilt series!

Learn to Quilt 3 with Adele Gataveckas

5 Monday evenings, 7 pm to 9 pm Neilson Park Creative Centre, 56 Neilson Drive, Etobicoke

April 10th, April 24th, May 1st, May 8th, May 29th 2023

Fees and supplies:

  •  $85 members
  •  $95 non-members
  •  Fee for patterns: $20 (payable at first class) Some quilting techniques may feel too challenging to tackle on your own. This 5 session evening class will take the mystery and stress out of techniques such as curved piecing, y-seams, partial seams, diamonds, hexagons and log cabin blocks. There is no project to complete so bring fabrics you have on hand and enjoy adding to your quilting skill set!
